Battlegrounds Perks, previously known as “Tavern Pass” (which is now the name of premium rewards track in the new progression system – yes, I know, it’s confusing), have been discounted to half of their regular price as a part of the latest update.
As a reminder, Battlegrounds Perks are a way for players to upgrade their BG experience. The main feature is being able to choose from four Heroes instead of two. You also get early access to newly released Heroes (they get unlocked to everyone after 2 weeks), and stuff like Emotes or more advanced statistics (but “advanced” is probably an overstatement).
Their original cost is 2000 Gold / $14.99, but you can now get them for ~2/3 of that – 1250 Gold / $9.99. It’s not unusual for BG Perks to get this kind of discount – after all, their value gets lower and lower as the expansion progresses (since they only last for a single set). However, previously it happened mid-expansion, roughly 2 months after the release. This time it’s only a month after – which is of course great news for players who still didn’t pull the trigger on those, as you can now enjoy Perks for 3/4 of the expansion. On the other hand, previously they were discounted by 50% (from $19.99 to $9.99 – the previous price was higher because they also included Arena tickets) – right now “only” by roughly 33% (Gold discount is a bit higher than that). Maybe Blizzard is planning for another discount later in the expansion? We’ll see.
You can get them in Battle.net shop or the in-game shop after downloading the latest patch.
Actually, I just got the battlegrounds perks and I got nothing. It costed me 2,000 gold and the last time I got them it unlocked the items on the top of the rewards track. So, I basically wasted 2K gold for nothing…
