Balance Update Coming Next Thursday (July 15), Three Cards Nerfed, Devs Looking at Priest & Druid

Alec to the rescue! The recent meta has been really stale – not much has changed ever since the mini-set was released. Luckily, we might see one last shake-up before the next expansion.

Next Thursday, on July 15, we’ll get a small balance patch. Devs are looking at card generation/burst healing in Priest and “non-games” in Druid (presumably games when they flood the entire board and then Arbor Up while it’s still early in the game and opponent can’t answer it – some of the Token Druid matches are very one-sided).

If I had to guess, I’d say that most likely candidates in Priest are Renew, Raise Dead, Palm Reading or Apotheosis. When it comes to Druid, I’d look at Gibberling or Arbor Up. Or maybe even Lightning Bloom, because most of the one-sided games are caused by it. But we’ll have to wait until official patch notes to be really sure.

    I think that a good change for cards that can generate others cards could be, discover a card from your deck, that should be the best change, because if you nerf priest control or healing tools shaman will be more strong deck.

    My personal nerf

    1) Raise dead: only work with NO battlecry minion;
    2) Renew: cost 0 heal for 2 and get a random spell;
    3) Palm Reading: get one random spell + draw a spell they cost both 1 less (classic 3 mana “draw 2”);
    4) Scorpid: cost 7 3/9 like the old wasteland scorpid (still power creep), i don’t want no more discover card that cost less than 5;
    5) Apotheosis: only work with NO rush minion and lifesteal work only for one turn.

    When you reach the same amount of card nerfed (only 3 card nerfed all time seriusly?) to the other classes in 7 years then you may change your target not before.

    Druid doesn’t need any nerf, he take too many hit already in the past and i don’t care loose or win at turn 1/2 with gibberlin at least the game end fast.

    I hope they dont nerf priest, but change it. Its not even the strongest deck, its not even close. The only problem is that its annoying

    cheap discover is the issue. brainless mechanic.

    for druid bloom is acting like old innervate which causes such polarity. i also hate when offense and defense is combined so cheap like that 2 1/2 taunt-token card

      Discover isn’t brainless, though. It takes a lot of skill and knowledge of the meta to know what to take and when and how to use it. That’s why Priest is really good at top legend, and pretty bad at lower levels. It’s a very high-skill deck.

        It takes no skill to keep picking hysteria, renew, draconic studies, etc. My most wins is as a priest (600+) and I do not use a single discover card. Mechanic is utter toxic and just decides games.

          You have abselut no clue about what you are talking about mate. If you go look stats on HSreplay you will see the higher the ranks the higher winrate on preist. The reason of that is i because it takes alot of skills to play preist proberly. Bad player at low ranks makes the deck be represented as weak but in reallty its the strongest deck in the game. The secend you hit top 4-500 legend its 40-50% priest on the ladder. Why? because preist is the best deck in the game, the last 50% in legends is people trying to counter preist. And if you still want to argue that preist is bad go ask any pro players stream about whats the best deck in the game Atm They will al say controle preist and rush warrior(Rush warrior is mostly for ladder climbing)

            Either you do not speak english or you are replying to someone else. I said discover is a toxic mechanic. You are just talking about random stuff completely unrelated to the discover mechanic.

    Renew to 2 mana makes completely nothing. You can still do scorpid->palm reading->renew shenanigans.
    Also you make priest is lwoer ranks even weaker by making the card to cost 2. That’s a bad nerf. Just make it “Discover a spell from your deck”. The card still remains a good 1 card tutor for priest like Power Word : Shield was, and at the same time you can’t find 7 soul mirrors.

    Renew: 1 mana to 2 mana = card kill.
    Palm Reading : 3 mana to 4 mana = somehow acceptable.
    Raise Dead: Add only 1 minion = card kill
    Raise Dead: 0 mana to 1 mana = acceptable

    Lightning Bloom: cost mana = card kill, add only 1 mana = card kill.
    Conclusion: impossible to nerf. Unless they make it Legendary card. (still impossible)

    Gibberling: 1 mana to 2 mana = card kill
    Arbor Up: 5 mana to 6 mana = card kill
    Arbor Up: give +1/+1 = more or less the same as before. But acceptable

        Nevermind any of that.
        Turns out there’s a nerf leaked.
        Renew to 2 mana,
        Gibberling to 2 mana,
        and Apotheosis to +1/+3 (maybe even +1/+2)

    Could definitely see raise dead be nerfed. Possibly 2 mana or more self damage. Of note here is that more self damage would be a “buff” to warlock and their new questline coming up in the next expansion.

    Actually, a nerf I could see is that discover cards can’t discover discover cards. Even thought that would hit other classes then priest as well. So maybe having renew unable to discover certain spells.

    Of course, not being able to generate generation from generator cards as a blanket nerf might not be to bad overall. Depending on what the control decks gets in united in stormwind to compensate. Because we are in dire need of good control to deal with the aggro problem.
