Signature Cards were first introduced in March of the Lich King expansion. They are a special type of cosmetic card that showcases full, alternate card artwork. While very rare, they were overall positive for the economy, because they don’t take any Legendary slots from your packs. If you get a Signature card, it replaces a random Common you would get instead in a card pack, so it’s a clear win for the players. Even though they are rare, they increase the pack value ever so slightly.
And how rare they are, exactly? Let’s start with the fact that you can only open the Legendary Signature cards (non-Legendaries are available through the events or rewards track). And those are as rare as Golden Legendary cards, so 1 in 181 packs on average, 1 in 361 packs pity timer. You can expect 1 (or less than 1) per expansion depending on how many packs you open. The odds are much higher in Golden Packs – you can expect 1 per 20 packs on average, with a guaranteed one every 40 packs. But given how expensive Golden Packs are, they are more of a whale magnet. At least the non-Legendary Signature Cards are easily accessible to an average player (as long as you’re playing during the expansion they are from).
However, long story short is that the first batch of Signature Cards wasn’t liked by most of the players. Between the lack of color, weird-looking borders (especially when on board), and the fact that you couldn’t get rid of it even if you wanted, the reception was mostly negative. That’s why Blizzard has decided to remake them only one expansion later (in Festival of Legends). Not only you can disenchant them now (for the same amount as Golden Legendaries), but they look WAY better. While Festival of Legends ones already looked nice, I have to say that the TITANS Signatures are even better. I like nearly every single one of them and I really want to get some of them even if I don’t care that much about cosmetics. I just wish there was another way to get them other than opening an obscene amount of card packs.
Over the last couple of days, Blizzard gave some content creators TITANS Signature Cards to reveal on social media (we revealed Thorim!) and the reception was amazing. People clearly love them, and I think for the first time they’re actually excited about Signature cards. In case you haven’t seen them, we’ve gathered all of the TITANS Signature Cards in this post. You can find all of them below (in alphabetical order):
I might’ve overread it but why is there no signature Titan card? I mean … the ‘signature’ of this expansion is Titans, right? The name of it is … well … Titans. So why no signature Titans?
I think it might have to do with how card text of signature cards is now presented on the side. Titans ALSO do that with their ability text. When you display both the card text and ability text on the side, it starts to get a bit much, and they might have decided it’s not practical to do so.
We do get a very nice Druid Titan diamond card, though!
None of them have bad art, but it’s a bit of a shame they didn’t go for a more unified theme; Sif and Ra-Den stand out, it would’ve been awesome if they did all of them in a more Ulduar stained glass style.
No Death Knight signature card? Disappointing, I was really looking forward to a possible Helya Signature card. Nonetheless, these are gorgeous, and the Ra-den one in particular is succeeding at making me consider Priest.
Can you craft Signature cards?
No, from Budle or Packs.
Could you explain more about “If you get a Signature card, it replaces a random Common you would get instead”?
Thank you
it means it will replace a Common card in your pack (if there’s any), as in it will use that slot instead of denying you a card from superior rarity.
For example your next pack would be 1 Golden Leg, 2 rares, 3 commons. If by chance that pack is chosen to have a Signature, it would occupy one of the 3 commons, instead of replacing another superior rarity card so the new Signatures are always a favorable addition to the game for the player.
That’s very detailed explanation thank you.
It looks like it’s only a slightly beneficial to “get Signature card from pack”, isnt it? It’s super low chance anyway.
Since last time with FOL released, I bought Golden Rank budle ,1/2 and 2/2, got three Signature for sure as I remeber, that’s the way how I get Signature card.
Yes, it’s not a big difference overall, but it was a common concern among players when they were first introduced (and weren’t received that well). Some people said that they would like a Golden Legendary instead of Signature. So devs reasurred everyone that they aren’t losing on anything and if a Signature Card appears, it will replace a Common card in that pack. So they’re getting it as an extra, not “instead of a Golden Legendary”.
Yes, they are rare and you can expect maybe 1 per expansion on average in normal packs (depending on how many packs you open exactly), but that’s always 1 free Legendary per expansion 🙂
Thank you for elaborating that, I started playing from the middle of March of Lich King and never heard of that, so It’s good thing to know for me!
Now it give me more confidence to collect more golden and signature cards for Titans. I collected all golden cards (except Legendary) for FoL, but they are nearly useful… so I was hesitating should I do this again but seems like Titans is a powerful expansion!!
