Update: Blizzard posted a really nice official infographic showcasing all of the Core Set 2022 changes. Sadly they didn’t include buff, but it’s still nice if you prefer to see all the cards at once. Posted it at the bottom.
Core Set 2022 was just announced and comes with some really big changes. Devs have already announced that they plan to rotate out around 1/3 of the Core Set yearly, and it would check out… for cards that rotate in (72). But not necessarily for the ones that rotate out (57).
The biggest changes are the fact that we’re getting 15 extra cards compared to the previous Core Set – and most of them are Legendaries! In Core Set 2021, each class had only one Core Legendary, but the number has been upped to two per class. On top of that, we have an extra Neutral Legendary and four more Neutral Epics. That’s a really big deal, especially for F2p or new players, which will have a much bigger variety of playable high rarity cards to start with.
It’s also worth noting that a bunch of cards from the new Core Set got buffed. Interestingly enough, some of them were already playable in their original state, which means that there might be some real meta-breakers among them.
However, unlike last time, we didn’t get any brand new cards designed specifically for the Core Set. All 72 cards that move into Core Set 2022 are already existing cards from old expansions. Which isn’t a bad thing per se, but at least I hoped for a few new ones to spice things up.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s a full list of cards rotating in and out. I’ll post a full, updated list of cards in Core Set 2022 soon, once we get the images.

Official Core Set 2022 Rotation Infographic
Sorry, had to split it in two. The image was so big that it was acting weird. Click on either part (Demon Hunter – Priest, Rogue – Neutrals) to zoom in.
nice thank you !
Rotation just happened and I’ve lost my King Mukla from a wild mill druid deck I was toying with. The card is available to craft but it was in my collection! Have I lost 1600 dust worth here or was there an error..?
Can’t remember. These cards rotating in are given for free? As a Standard player, I have dusted old legendaries
Core Set cards are all “rented” to the players for free. They are given out for the time they are in Core Set. So if you only play Standard you don’t have to worry, you will be able to play all of them until they rotate out again.
So much AOE … interesting. And so much ‘Classic’ flavor. I wonder if those cards stand up to the game that Hearthstone has become.
All in all, very cool.
I have a question regarding Wild Pirate Warrior (yes, I actually enjoy that deck 🙂 ). If I understand right, all the Pirates added to the 1st Core Set are remaining? Which means they stay in Wild and don’t need to be crafted?
Correct
Make Hearthstone Great Again!
I think this expansion is going to save hearthstone
where are Shaman changes in core set? is the only class missing…
Just past the Rogue section. It’s a little more hidden as it doesn’t look like it got it’s class banner image.
Sorry, Shaman’s banner didn’t show up for whatever reason even though I pasted it into the post. I fixed it now. But the changes were all listed already before 🙂
TESS GREYMANE, MY LOVE, she’s returning <3
Wow… Very happy to see the return of equality/wild pyromancer, and more broadly there are some very interesting choices. Overall, very happy with this rotation.
Nice buffs coming on with old friends, now Kalecgos can deal 10 dmg Pyro + 10 dmg with the spell copy of Queen Azshara, in ex.. Fandral + Nourish and Guff.. Priest Core Set is scary… Bloodlust will regret of a comeback maybe, soo exited for the changes. Will Reno see play alone as a single highlander card?? or maybe this enables new cards in next expansion(s)…
This begins to like a very exciting meta. The question remains, are the new slower decks pushed by Blizz going to stand a chance at competing with questlines.
Currently, QL Druid, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Shaman, and Warrior are UNPLAYABLE. The others are better, but hardly broken. I think it’s time to stop crying about QL’s.
With backfire, raise dead, and flesh giants going away quest hand lock will be on it’s way out as well I would guess.
So far only the Hunter, Rogue and Warrior questlines look viable post-rotation, possibly Druid and Priest too
I KNEW THE EXPLORERS ARE BACK I WAS RIGHT!!! NOBODY BELIEVED ME
