Mulligans
Aggro Mulligans
Mass Dispel is kept to eliminate buffs against Aggro decks (Murloc Paladin, Aggro Druid, Shaman etc).
Priest
The goal of this deck is to survive the early game and get enough minions to stick for a one-turn-kill (OTK). The spells in this deck are designed to work on board control or OTK potential with synergy from your dragons. Bone Drake and Free From Amber mechanics provide cards to stay on curve generate OTK targets.
Early Game Notes (Turns 1-3):
- Your ideal mulligan against all decks is Northshire Cleric, Shadow Ascendant, and Tar Creeper. Since your cheaper spells are for OTK potential (Inner Fire and Divine Spirit) you can struggle in the early game. Faerie Dragon can be substituted for a Silence or Mass Dispel to help stabilize the early game.
- Be sure to utilize your hero power to get the most affect out of Northshire Cleric‘s card draw mechanic.
Mid Game Notes (Turns 4-7)
- While you may be behind in the early game, Duskbreaker is a good turn 4 equalizer with its battlecry.
- Twilight Drake is a another 4-drop that can get good value in the mid game (especially if you have a large hand).
- Cobalt Scalebane and Bone Drake are the ideal turn 5 and 6 plays.
- At turn 6, you can start panning for the end game with Bone Drake and it’s Deathrattle “Add a random dragon to your hand”. If you get lucky enough, cards like Ysera,Malygos, and Sleepy Dragon can be targets for OTK potential at a later turn due to their 12 hp.
- Mass Dispel can be used mid game to get rid of any taunts/ help minions on the board effectively trade-in/ hit the opponents face.
- Silence is best used on a sturdy taunt in the mid-game or on a singular threat Rin, the First Disciple, Carnivorous Cube or Voidlord
Late Game Notes (Turns 8-Endgame)
- After turn 7, you focus should be calculating OTK potential and planning your next turns accordingly.
- Free From Amber and Primordial Drake are your ideal turn 8 plays, allowing you to have another big minion on your board.
- Obsidian Statue is another big minion whose lifesteal mechanic adds 4 hp to your hero. Selective trading, and hitting your opponents face can lead to hefty HP restoration.
- Mind Control is a situational 10 turn play that can turn the tide of the game by controlling your opponents biggest threat on the board. It is important to know your opponent’s deck and be sure you control the biggest threat.
- Mass Dispel is another tide turner, especially good after a Bloodreaver Gul'dan play to neutralize all the Voidwalker‘s and Voidlord ‘s that your opponent summons.
OTK Math:
- Focus on opponent health and the minion with the highest HP on the board.
- For me, since Bone Drake has a good chance of spitting out an 12 HP minion, I focus on HP in units of 6.
- Example: A turn 10+ play of Mass Dispel, Divine Spirit ,Divine Spirit, and Inner Fire allows you to silence all enemies and turn a 6 HP minion into a OTK 24/24 minion.
- If Skullking Geist destroys your inner fire, focus on playing your bulkiest minions and using Divine Spirit to make bigger targets.
