Is there any replacement for Cat Trick? Since I don’t have that expansion and since the rotation is right around the corner really don’t think its worth buying said Expansion.

I was looking at statistics for this deck (and several variations of it) and to my surprise, Deathstalker Rexxar is one of, if not, the worst performing card in spell hunter (45% win rate when played, craft regret is strong). Along with Hunter’s Mark, and Deadly Shot (literally a hail mary most of the time). Just from personal experience, the hunter’s hero power is often necessary to apply pressure to the opponent and close out games. Based on this I actually recommend abstaining from Deathstalker Rexxar and having no more than one of each of the other cards mentioned. On the Hunt, while not very exciting, is surprisingly useful.

My decklist is strongly influenced by Torlk’s rank 2 spell hunter list, which notably also excludes Deathstalker Rexxar. If you look at his list I’d like to mention that Unleash the Hounds also seems to perform poorly in this archetype.

Here is my current deck: Feel free to make any changes based on your meta.

Thanks for a reasonable and well thought out response. You offer reason and alternatives instead of “Rexxar sux”. I am going to try your version.

Great response. Can you share what site you use for these statistics? Id love to see that for different meta architypes. I unpacked Rhok’delar early but haven’t played this a ton since I didn’t want to craft Rexxar until the meta played out and I thought he was actually crucial to this decks winrate.

I’m hopeful this archetype can grow in the next few months since these nerfs won’t touch it. I think it only loses call of the wild and cat trick, which are replaceable with hopefully some support in April when the rotation happens.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I used hsreplay.net to find the statistics I’m talking about. They are the creators of the Hearthstone Deck Tracker app I strongly recommend as well. I looked at quite a few variations and Deathstalker Rexxar seemed to have poor percentages in all of the ones I saw.

I’m not sure about Rexxar. He doesn’t really fit in the deck, since your playstyle is pretty aggressive and Rexxar is not. But on the other hand, he is a value engine and can carry you in the late game. The low winrates could resemble that if you have to play him, you may very well be at a point, where you are already losing and he might swing the game in your favour. Plus, he has a built-in boardclear, which can be the last straw vs aggro.

I wouldn’t regret crafting him, in fact I’m going to craft him with my Patches-dust, partly because I recently opened Rhok’Delar, but also because he is one of the – if not THE – best designed Deathknights

I think the stats are so bad on him because you don’t play him when you are winning. Rexxar is an oh shit button. The aoe and sustain have saved me vs aggro and control quite a few times. That being said, there are times whe he is a dead card, and im interested in toying around with this idea. Thanks bud!

I hear you there, LaserWolf. I think you’re right that there are some factors that likely contribute to the winrate that doesn’t reflect on the usefulness of the card. Maybe with the surge of Murlocadins and disappearance of Corridor Creeper he is better now than the previous meta. Like everything, it loses to Cubelock either way T.T

You could probably take out both the On the Hunt’s for that cheesy barnes/yshaarj combo. I’m honestly not a fan but it is undeniably strong when it works.
