Mulligans
General Mulligans
This deck has a very versatile starting hand, and your hand more often depends on the combos and tools it gives you rather than the specific one cards. Still, these four cards are powerhouses in the deck and definitely must keep. Generally, you do not want to keep more than 1 card with cost over 3 in hand, as getting closer to completing your quest consistently with each turn is a must
This is my painstaked, most competitive attempt at creating a shaman murloc deck. Currently, I’m winning in rank 8, but the deck definitely has limitations. Still, it is so fun that I actually made this account to write it up. If you read / brew and try it, i’d love to know what you think! Unfortunately to be even slightly competitive the dust is needed, the deck falls flat a lot more oftenwithout the quest, thrall, and finja all there as potential threats. I don’t feel qualified to write a guide, but I will share a few notes I’ve found grinding this deck from rank 20 to rank 8.
Murlocs Prism Power, Make Up!!
Ice Fishing is one of the more straight forward, solid cards. Using it turn 2 or 3 often nets a lot of advantage, and with brrloc in the deck it can serve as a much needed toolbox. It’s low cost makes it very easy to incorporate into building advantage.
-Sneaking a Murloc Tidecaller onto the board to set up for Call in the Finishers is a great move, and often can catch an opponent for an off guard 5 damage
-Speaking of Call in the Finishers, its a great card, and often an opponent will feel obligated to use a sweep removal spell just to address the 4 murlocs it gives you. Baiting the sweeper out before really unloading your hand is a great move. Call in the finishers also pads quest very well, making it crucial hand material for necessary tempo
–Thrall, Deathseer is the deck’s hot glue, and can allow for outs in very bad situations. later turns call in the finishers + thrall can be a great board reset. Thrall is very important to the deck as it takes reliance somewhat off of megafin, and allows the deck to get its initial damage with murlocs, turn that into more tangible advantage with thrall, and then finish with megafin + murlocs.
-If i had a nickel for every time Maelstrom Portal got me a murloc i’d buy 100 arena runs
-Like any other aggro deck, playing this deck is all about understanding what you’re opponent is planning so that you can best apply pressure. The deck is extremely adaptable between Devolve, Gentle Megasaur, Coldlight Seer, and Thrall, which is how it somewhat makes up for its lack of true advantage/tempo. Sometimes playing 2 creatures and using coldlight seer, knowing you can play a lord next turn, gives you enough advantage so that by the time you’ve gotten megafin your opponent has used a lot of their resources.
-Megafin’s ability can often allow for you to win, simply through giving your hand lords and bluegill warriors. Combined with lava spike , it can make for devastating back to back turns.
-Lastly, the real secret advantage of this deck which is worth mentioning is that your opponent has no idea what is going on most of the time. Who plays shaman murlocs? use this heavily to your advantage, and keep your opponent on your toes. Happy fishing, and aaaaaughibbrgubugbugrguburgle!
Grimscale oracle is trash i would replace it with Murloc tidehunter. In a deck like this Lava burst is not very effective, a second Bloodlust or Lightning bolt is better.
