Generally speaking, you should also be looking for cards to stall your opponent out or make them play subpar till turn 5 (turn 4 with coin). Doomsayer, Tar Creeper, Raven Familiar and Dragon's Fury are cards you want to keep. Dragon's Fury is what you can use to get the AoE snowball party ready.

Welcome to a field of spells with a newer style of Mage that utilizes some of the biggest AoE spells in standard.

Big Spell or what I like to call it AoE Mage is aimed that dominating and controlling the board and grinding your opponent away till they can no longer fight anymore. Your AoE spells can begin at turn 5 (turn 4 with the coin if need) thanks to the newest addition of Dragon’s Fury

This new spell card helps put down AoE damage in a hurry and it also fuels one of your finishers in the newest legendary from Kobolds and Catacombs expansion

In this deck, other good pieces are Medivh, the Guardian to combo with all the big spell and build board presence with all of your AoE wipes. In an earlier version I was running the new mage weapon in Aluneth however with a deck that tends to hold onto those big AoE cost spells, I wasn’t finding much usage. The essential combo would be Aluneth into Medivh on turn 8 to prevent overdrawing and bringing yourself to fatigue.   Frost Lich Jaina adds immediate value towards your late game in addition to Arcane Artificer combined with any of your AoE spells or even Pyroblast which could be a lifesaver. Pyroblast paired with Dragon’s Fury if you’re lucky will clear almost all of a Big Druid or Big Priest deck. I’ve actually had a game where I played Spiteful Summoner, revealed Pyroblast and brought out a Skulking Geist puts in work to help stop some of the madness.

The gameplan for the first 4 turns is to…survive. Cards like DoomsayerTar CreeperStonehill Defender and even Polymorgh will help assist you for these turns. In my earlier version I was running Prince Valanar and Alexstrasza which both could very well fit in this build. Currently I am considering a build utilize 1 or 2 Ice Block as well.
