Divine Spirit Inner Fire Dragon Priest (December 2016, Season 33)

This is my take on the “standard Dragon Priest + burst combo” archetype. The combo involves playing Stormwind Knight + Divine Spirit x2 + Inner Fire for a 9 mana, 20 damage finisher (10 mana, 28 damage if you have an extra Power Word: Shield lying around. I’m currently playing this deck at Rank 5, and I think it’s good enough to hit Legend.

However, you don’t always finish games this way; the beauty of this variant is the flexibility of the combo pieces.  Sometimes you can bring your opponent low enough to use the Divine Spirit + Inner Fire combo on a Drakonid Operative or Twilight Guardian that stuck to the board for a surprise 12 – 24 damage burst. Power Word: Shield and Kabal Talonpriest are great cards in their own right, but now serve a dual purpose as additional combo pieces. 

Your combo pieces are even useful against aggro decks. Even just using Divine Spirit on a Wyrmrest Agent creates a 2/8 taunt which is very tough for your opponent to deal with. Stormwind Knight can be played on turn 4 to take out small minions like Small-Time Buccaneer.

Otherwise, the list is pretty standard Dragon Priest. Mulligan for an early curve, make value trades, eke out as much value as you can out of your cards, kill them with burst. Have fun!
