There is something funny about this coin… can't quite put my finger on it…- Mana Cost: 0
- Crafting Cost: 100 / 800 (Golden)
- Arcane Dust Gained: 20 / 100 (Golden)
- Rarity: Rare
- Class: Rogue
- Card Type: Spell
- Set: Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
This card is bad in every way. It is only good if gadgetzan is on the board. Tomb pillager was good because its stats were only slightly worse than yeti, and its deathrattle is insane. Tomb pillager would be a staple of every class if they could use it.
but combo and mana
i’m seeing this card as being really strong right now, and it’s mainly because it speeds up miracle rogue a lot.
people have mentioned tomb pillager, which is a good comparison, but what tomb pillager gains from having a strong body, it loses for being a slow card. pillager often takes up an entire turn for rogue when played, as it is usually played on tempo. then you have to wait at least one turn to get the coin out of the card. if you want a second free coin, you have to do that whole process again.
Counterfeit coin has no delay, making it a more flexible alternative that you can play 2 copies of on one turn without any setup.
in combo decks, that’s a big deal. I can think of dozens of incredible tempo plays using these coins, especially combined with prep. in malygos, this can be the stuff of nightmares for your opponent. (turn 9 maly, coin, sinister, coin, sinister, prep, damage, etc..)
6-6 edwin on turn one with this and coin, not bad. Also works really well with miracle and maybe malygos rogue. One copy would be fine.
weaker prep sees maybe 1 copy of
Woah when did they buff prep to affect minions too?
My point is that’s a really stupid comparison.
Mill rogue (in wild) value 😀
tbh, worse than innervate, but there’s more synergy
Do we think it’ll see play at all before the rotation, or is the deck already too full? It seems to work with what we know so far for post-Kraken standard, but I don’t think I see a spot until then. Correct me if I’m wrong, though, I don’t play much Rogue.
This expansion isn’t actually going to come with a set rotation you know. We’ll still have BRM and everything.
With this card is possible play miracle without minions, only maligos and barnes. Rogue nerf is near.
Going first? Coin + Defias. Going second? Coin + Defias.
Seems insane in miracle rogue. Natural replacement for tomb pillager.
A worse Innervate?
Technically yes, but in a class that benefits a lot more off of it with combos, Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Malygos OTK’s, etc. A lot of Tomb Pillager play is simply for the coin; when the Pillager goes out of Standard, I’m positive this will be seen at least as a 1-of in Miracle, if not two. I can’t wait to see the Barnes/Gadgetzan/Malygos Miracle deck which utilizes this :3
perfect card for rogue, with tomb pillager going away I think that almost every single rogue deck will run 2 or atleast 1 of these cards. solid 9/10
In my opinion it’s a bad replacement for Tomb Pillager, the latter has a 5/4 body so you don’t have to worry about it take 2 card slots of your deck but with this crap you have 2 less cards to play with.
Yes, it’s technically a worse Tomb Pillager, but for a guaranteed coin as opposed to a slightly delayed coin. If you’re playing Gadgetzan turn 6 with coin + Conceal, Tomb Pillager turn 5 is almost always strictly better. However, if you’re going to try for a turn 5 or even turn 4 Gadgetzan + Conceal with the “Going second” coin, Tomb Pillager won’t let that happen. Of course, it’s a bit iffy whether you want to play your Gadgetzan a turn early or wait for an extra card draw off of the coins, but when your opponent has an AoE like Flamestrike or the new Dragonfire Potion that Priest has, it might be better to get that one-turn advantage before your Gadgetzan get wiped.
Exactly. Rogue never really cared about the 5/4 body, it was all about the coin. Also, I was wrong, tomb pillager isn’t going away since this expansion will come up in this year’s december. Which is good because now rogues can play this card AND the tomb pillager. I guess you’re going to a lot of coins for “the best deals anywhere”
^ This. Tomb Pillager acts as a soft taunt. Malygos rogues don’t rely on minion damage ALL the time to setup lethal. If it dies, coin value. If it doesn’t, me go face. SMOrc
