Mulligans
This is a miracle priest deck built around some of the new “1-Cost card” synergies that priest got this expansion.
The best payoff for playing lots of 1-cost cards is the new Thirsty Drifter. You can theoretically get one of these to 0-cost as early as turn 3. We can also copy them from our deck with Creation Protocol or copy them from the board with Power Chord: Synchronize.
Since many of the best 1-cost cards are healing effects, I decided to build around a small overheal package: Crimson Clergy and the new Injured Hauler. Injured Hauler gives us a powerful way to catch up on board. We can set up Fan Club or Idol's Adoration beforehand, then play the Hauler alongside heal effects like Flash Heal or the new Holy Springwater for a one-sided board clear.
The 4 damage from the Hauler battlecry is a lot to heal, but that’s why we run Animate Dead. The Hauler is a fantastic resurrect target. Since it will come back at full health, we can immediately use something like Fan Club to start triggering it. Crimson Clergy is the only other Animate Dead target so we always hit something with a great overheal effect.
To close out games, we have Heartbreaker Hedanis. With enough cheap heal effects, he can do a ton of burst damage. Especially if some of those heals are also triggering the Hauler to clear their board, so Hedanis goes face.
We’re also running the new legendary Pip the Potent to keep up our supply of 1-Cost cards. Pip seems like she can give you a ton of value and set up for huge combo turns. Imagine copying Funnel Cake, for instance. Against control, it even seems like the deck could pivot to an OTK strategy. We can use Creation Protocol to tutor for Hadanis and Pip, then copy of bunch of cheap heal effects and blast the opponent all at once.
I wasn’t sure what the right number of 1-drop is, so there are a couple of other cards worth considering. Thrive in the Shadows could let us search for important heal effects. Heartthrob would give another good overheal minion to resurrect with Animate Dead. I’d probably remove Shard of the Naaru if I wanted to fit one of them in.
I also excluded Shadowtouched Kvaldir because it would dilute the Animate Dead pool. But it could be worth testing. Being able to do 8 damage to the opponent’s face with Holy Springwater would certainly give more options for combo outs. And you can copy the Kvaldir with Pip. I think having more reliable combo turns with Animate Dead seems worth the exclusion, but I’m not sure.
