Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – Festival of Legends Week 5 – May 2023

It took a while for the meta to stabilize after the last balance update (buffs are generally harder to figure out than nerfs and we had A LOT of buffs), but it’s there. And it’s… well, not perfect. Unholy Death Knight is definitely overtuned – the deck sits at the top with ~56% win rate, followed by a bunch of 52-53% WR decks. Those are still fine and it’s the normal win rate for Tier 1 decks – 56% is just a bit too high.

But I have some good news – there’s a balance patch coming next week. There’s also a Heroic Brawliseum coming next week, which should make the whole ordeal quite interesting. Will they push balance patch on Tuesday, right before Brawliseum? That would make more sense, although people will go in blind into a meta they have no idea about yet. It will be pretty risky. I just hope they don’t decide to push the patch out on Thursday (which was the day of the last few patches – they were teased on Tuesday and released on Thursday). That would make all the people in the middle of the run really angry.

Other than that, the mini-set should be releasing relatively soon. Heroic Brawliseum should be your clue that Blizzard is looking for ways to drain people’s gold so they have to spend real money on the mini-set, haha. If we look at the last year’s mini-set (Throne of Tides), I expect an announcement within the next two weeks and release by the end of May or early in June. Just like always, mini-set should somewhat shake up the meta. It’s hard to say how much because some mini-sets were major meta-breakers while others only nudged it a bit – but I hope that some archetypes that didn’t get enough support in the main expansion will shine after it drops.
