Blizzard just shared small-ish esports-related news. The upcoming Masters Tour: Voyage to the Sunken City was meant to start on April 22*, only 10 days after the expansion’s launch. While events like that might be fun to watch, since the meta is still not completely set in stone, it’s much worse for the competitors since a lot of their line-up choices come down to luck more than skill. Even more so when we count the rotation – the playable decks are likely going to look way different than they do now. Not to mention that any early emergency balance changes would most likely come just before deck submissions deadline, and that’s always horrible for the participating players since they have no time to playtest.
That’s why the event has been delayed by a week – it will now happen between April 29* and May 1. If any player won’t be able to compete because of the date change, Blizzard will offer an invite to another 2022’s Masters Tour event instead.
*Technically if we look at PDT times, the tournament is going to start on April 28 at 11 PM (that’s why the official announcement says April 28). But it starts on April 29 in basically every other time zone (east coast US, Europe, Asia), so I’m using that date instead.

The Hearthstone Esports team has decided to push Masters Tour: Voyage to the Sunken City back one week to now take place April 28 – May 1. With 135 new cards, Colossal and Dredge keywords, and the addition of the brand new Naga minion-type, we want to ensure that all 400 competitors have enough time to explore Voyage to the Sunken City after it launches on April 12.
This change also means that we will be rescheduling the final weekend of Masters Tour 4 Qualifiers, with them now taking place a week earlier April 21 – April 24. You can register for Qualifiers taking place throughout April on Battlefy!
For any Masters Tour: Voyage to the Sunken City competitors that will not be able to compete due to the date change, we will be offering an invite to one of the remaining Masters Tours of 2022. Formal invites will be going out soon which will include information for affected players.
We look forward to seeing the creative and meta-defining decks players will be crafting with the new expansion on April 28! Good luck, have fun, and we’ll see you in the Zin-Azshari Tavern!
I need to sleep, I almost had a hearth (BUM BADA TSSS) attack, the expansion was not delayed, is the master tour.
