New Hearthstone expansion, the first set of the upcoming Standard year, was supposed to be announced tomorrow – on March 15 (Tuesday). We’ve just learned that the announcement got delayed. Luckily, it’s just 2 days later than initially planned – expansion will instead get revealed this Thursday (March 17).
We don’t have any details as to why it happened, Team 5 probably needed some more time to prepare.
Adventurers, hold steady!
We’ll be sharing the details of the new Hearthstone expansion on March 17, instead of March 15 as previously announced. Thanks for your understanding, and we’ll see you then!

We need also patch notes 21.6 with balance changes; game is unplayable right now if you go with Guff get punished by Aggro, if you play Aggro you meet Control/OwlTK, and back again if you play Control get punished hard with a bunch of Guffs… Meta is like GUFF > AGGRO > CONTROL, and all because of one card: Kazakusan.
O_o Meta is the healthiest its been in a long time. Give me a break. By your own comment, if there were no kazakusan, then the dynamic would shift to just 2 major types instead of 3, which would then crumble to just 1 dominant type (I guess control/otk with an absense of kazakusan). Now at least aggro is viable? And actually, it would be pure otk rather than control/otk ruling it all, since there would be no need to run anti-aggro. No-one is sick of pure garrote type otks at all right? At least when someone tries priest shenanigans you can just remove with slower decks.
Agree, the problem is my personal experience this season, because I played mostly Ramp Druid, Control Warrior, Aggro Shadow Priest and Burn Shaman, and the matchmaking is just trolling everytime I changed a deck only faced a counter!! Last season I’ve climbed easy to legend with Shaman but now I’m stucked at D5!! wherever..
I agree that the meta feels very stale even though it’s very dynamic. Matchups just feel too one-sided and not dependent on skill, if that’s what you mean:)
We usually get a patch on the expansion’s reveal day, where they add pre-orders etc. 22.6 will nearly surely drop on Thursday, but I would temper my expectations. I don’t think we will get any bigger balance changes for two reasons.
First – there’s a Masters Tour this weekend, and they generally don’t release big balance updates right before MT. And second – we’re just before the new Standard rotation, core set rotation and a whole expansion, the meta should look completely different in less than a month. So I’m not sure if they want to change cards based on the current, pre-rotation state.
