The mini-set has released almost 2 weeks ago – last Sunday I didn’t make this compilation, since I was adding all the new mini-set decks to a single post anyway. But we’re back now!
Ultimately, just like I and many players have expected, mini-set didn’t make a massive impact on the game. The biggest change was definitely a buff to Pirate Warrior – it’s one of the strongest decks both in Standard and in Wild right now. Luckily Mr. Smite didn’t turn out to be as overpowered as many players have thought, and that’s good – times have changed a lot since the Leeroy Jenkins was Hall of Famed. Mini-set also buffed Aggro Druid, but to be honest, the deck was already close to the top, so it didn’t open any new strategies. And that’s basically the story of this mini-set – it added a new card or two to some of the already existing, solid decks (Face Hunter, Libram Paladin, Questline Warlock), but it didn’t innovate much.
That said, it’s not over for the mini-set. Blizzard has announced a balance update coming out early next week – most likely Tuesday. There are four changes scheduled – three nerfs (Razormane Battleguard, Arcanist Dawngrasp and Garrote) and one buff (Renew). Not sure how much they will affect the meta, but the good news is that they don’t need to make a big impact. That’s because Tuesday is also (most likely) the day when the new expansion gets announced – and that’s great, I can’t wait to see some new cards (because again, the mini-set was a bit underwhelming). If I’m correct, we shouldn’t have to wait THAT long for the expansion’s release – my guess is December 7, which will be exactly 3 weeks since the announcement.
But for now, we’re still in the post-mini-set, pre-balance-update, pre-expansion world. So I’ll showcase some of the more successful decks from the last week – and then come back to you next Sunday after the balance changes.
Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.
