Another slow week for Constructed Hearthstone, but not for long. Mini-set has an official release date – November 2 (Tuesday), and it brings 35 new cards. We’ve seen 31 out of them so far, the final four are Legendaries and they’re getting revealed tomorrow. Should be pretty exciting.
That said, while I already see how some of the new cards might impact the meta, I don’t expect a major overhaul unless the Legendaries really deliver. Some of the new cards seem pretty filler-ish or have pretty unique effects that I don’t think can get utilized right now. But maybe I’m wrong, I hope that the mini-set makes a bigger impact, because we could use a meta refresh already. The good news is that even if the meta will only change slightly, the new expansion is only a month or so away.
This is our last round-up before mini-set, and I hope that next week’s one will look vastly different!

To be honest, looking at almost all the miniset cards already revealed, I also don’t really expect the mini set to change much to the meta. Which is fine, I’d say. But most of the cards are low impact at best, didn’t really see many auto includes in there except maybe that one Warrior pirate that will definitely be a significant boost to all kinds of Pirate Warriors, including in Standard.
I’m curious about the Rogue and Shaman Legendaries in particular, but they’d have to be really good to single handedly change the deal for these classes.
An addition of a single copy of Legendary to carry the burden of metashift? I doubt it very much.
A few example of meta breaker must have something to impact the Questline, which is the major meta.
The only thing I can think of is Quest disruption tools, which is perfect for a Legendary Neutral card. Not everyone will agree, but I had enough of the easy-win condition set by some of the Quest.
Yep, I’m talking about you Sorcerer Gambit! Combined with infinite Ignites, they can just ignore everything and go straight to face.
Trust me, I share you hatred of the Mage Questline, but I highly doubt Quest disruption is being printed.
Thankfully, some specific strategies can beat Mage, there are some boards that they simply can’t deal with since they lack any destroy effects they have to stick to dealing damage, and if you have a lot of health and a lot of pressure you can pull through their spells. Alternatively you can avoid playing minions to slow them getting their Frost spells.
