Hey, I’m the one that played the deck to L#2 and thought I might be able to tell you why I dislike Kazakus in the list! π Your main object with the deck is to build up tempo, mainly with your weapon! So most of the time you’re focused on “finding a weapon (swinetusk over self-sbarpening in most Match ups)” > “buffing your weapon” > “chip damage (minions that go face)”
This means that you oventime spend mana on drawing cards, spending 4 mana on a 3/3 would slow you down a lot! AND most golems wouldn’t be to good for us. +2/+2 wouldn’t do anything in most cases / we don’t need more draw most of the time / deal 3 to x might help sometimes, but is to slow / copy might be good but most decks would be able to clear, because they don’t need to spend removals on other cards
-> the best choise would be 5/5 stealth/ +2 spelldamage in most cases > 5/5 divine shield or stealth / summon a copy
So most of the time you’re just able to build up more tempo with your other cards! π
If you don’t face any aggro at all you could try to tech it in instead of cloak, might be good for the extra value!
The best lists you’ll find when you just test a lot and try to find out what fits your playstyle the best! ^^
Sorry for this “tl;dr”-message, but I hope it helped you get a bit of insight on my thought-process! π
Hey, thanks for the insight. I have to admit that I still have no idea how to play this deck though. I am in dumpster legend (so not very good but not bad either). When I play it I feel there is just zero value (even for an aggro deck). Clearing my minions is very easy for most decks and I just donβt have enough fuel to keep board presence. Any enemy taunt is a big problem but even without taunts it feels I have no damage to actually kill my opponent. Weapon build up is just too slow most of the time. I would really want to see this deck being played well.
most of the time your minions hit face once, mankrik maybe twice! most of your damage comes from your weapon and you always want to hardmulligan for weapons (maybe keep 1 spymistress on coin) and keep all posions with it.
buffing swintetusk has insane value and is the key to victory in 90% of your games.
i donΒ΄t feel like there are to many taunt minions in the current standard meta and most of the time you can trade them with your weapon outta taking any damage!
ItΒ΄s always hard to have the perfect answer for every situation, maybe IΒ΄ll write an in depth guide to help a bit!
If you want to see how the deck is played I can recommend you my stream (ThisIsChrisHS on twitch) or MrYagut, he is definitly one of the best, if not the best with the deck!
Have a nice day! π
Thanks for the reply. It actually helped me. I still have problems with some decks though -especially rush warrior (adding second cloak of shadows helped a bit). Control priest is also hard since they heal a lot. But on the other hand this absolutely destroys mages π
Valid points and I already thought that low tempo might be the reason … although I value the tempo regain provided by the golems very high (yeah, stealth + copy is my favorite). But I absolutely agree that most of the golem’s abilities might be useless.
I nonetheless cut the one Coerce for Kazakus – reasoning was that Coerce might be completely useless sometimes where Kazakus is at least playable, then. π
Wish ya gl! π I think the biggest problem I have with Kazakus is that most of the time you wanna play Kazakus on 4 and Golems on 5 in most cases, but with weapon Rogue you have to play weapon in 3 (unless you have the coin or no weapon in hand) and want to buff it ASAP! So you wouldn’t be able to curve Kazakus and same with Golems… But I was really thinking about it and just going for 1mana golem +1 spelldamage might also be rly strong in many cases. Gonna test around a bit and will share my thoughts on it after testing! π
I feel like not playing Kasakus is somewhat strange. Then again, I’m no Pro when it comes to deckbuilding, so…

Another list (even cutting Spymistress) got #1 Legend, so no Kazakus needed I guess. And it proves that the weapon buffs should be enough. π
