Yep, you’ve heard that right – Designer Alec Dawson just shared this on Twitter. We already knew that developers are planning to un-nerf some cards (like they previously did with Molten Giant, for example), but the number is quite big. What’s interesting is that some card nerfs might be “partially” reverted, so we might even see the worst offenders getting a slight buff, but not to the point they were before originally.
For the record – we are certain that they plan to revert nerfs on some cards rotating to Wild from Year of the Dragon and possibly already existing Wild cards. We don’t know whether he also means cards rotating to 2021’s Core Set, but honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised. Some cards that might have been problematic in the past wouldn’t be without certain synergies and having them in their original form in Core Set could be fun.
We’ll learn more about which cards he talks about “closer to rotation” – I suspect either at BlizzCon or shortly after, when a full list of Core Set cards is revealed. Some great announcements ahead, the next few weeks will be busy!
Had a great meeting this week where we reverted or partially reverted some nerfs for rotation. It’ll be more aggressive than year’s past with a lot of cards rotating so expect a high number of changes (~30). Should be fun 🙂

I guess that confirm that most of classic/basic will be reverted (at least all of those that were preemptively nerfed when wild was introduced)
Reverted nerfs means rebuffed. No dust compensation if anyone asking. (Sadly no one asking)
But wait, with the false promise from the last reward track system, I’ll not giving any hype whatsoever.
I need to see the whole picture before I can judge.
There’s too much to take up all at once.
New Expansion, Rotations, Nerfs Reverts, New Core Cards, Blizzcon. I just hope they’re making it for the better and not somehow ruin it and bring more fiasco to the game.
*finger crossed*
Yes, reverting nerfs means buffing the cards to their original state. They never gave dust compensations for buffs.
At least now we know that Core Set is free, so they won’t screw players out of their gold or anything like that. But we’ll see how well the Core Set works as a replacement for Basic/Classic. I think that it’s a great idea overall (I’ve been talking about it for YEARS now), but they need to nail the balance and flavor for it to work.
