Top Standard Legend Decks From Scholomance Academy – Week 7 – September 2020

Another week, another proof that the meta has basically stabilized at this point. Like I’ve already said, we would need a bigger update or maybe some sort of event like last year’s Doom in the Tomb to really shake everything up. It’s hard to say whether we’ll get something similar this time, but Hallow’s End event should be coming soon (in 3-4 weeks if we look at the previous years), so we’ll just see.

Nerf patch did hit Priest and Warlock a bit – both classes have dropped in popularity. Rogue was also slightly affected by the Secret Passage nerf, but it’s still very good. However, this weeks Mage has risen to the top, becoming the most popular class in Legend (it’s still #2 in Diamond, because Face Hunter is dominating on the way to Legend). We’re also seeing Guardian Druid back in form – most of the players have dropped trying out Malygos versions and settled on the Survival of the Fittest builds, which are working quite well. And Soul Demon Hunter remains one of the best (and, in my opinion, most fun) decks. Aggro build of the class is still present at lower ranks, but the higher you go, the less common it is, nearly disappearing at the high Legend. Which, in fact, is quite similar to Pure Paladin – a kind of weird situation. The deck is very common in Diamond, you can still find it in lower Legend, but in Top 1k it’s nearly gone for apparently no reason. In terms of win rate, the it’s still one of the strongest builds in high Legend, but maybe it just feels to “fair” and players underestimate it?

It’s worth noting that the buff to Totem Goliath DID help Totem Shaman – the deck got a slight boost. But it’s still most likely not enough to push it into the meta. However, we’re awfully close – 2-3 more good synergy cards in the next expansion can turn Totem Shaman into a serious, competitive deck. Unless Blizzard decides to suddely drop Totem synergies and tries to push a completely different strategy, which has happened in the past.

Anyway, I hope that we’ll see some meta shake-up soon – because even though the current one is balanced and fun, even the best metas get boring after a while.

Now I missed Warlock & Warrior when playing too much with Highlander Mage and Aggro Rogue.
But I found some good deck when battling in the lower Legend, a Triple Galkrond Warlock utilizing Expired Merchant.
Tried it with Soul Fragment combo to help heal, and I suddenly have a 4 wins streak. Quite fun.

Can you share the Gala Warlock? It was one of my favorite decks early last expansion, but I didn’t have much success with it in Scholomance so far.

Feel free to swap some card with Soulciologist Malicia if you feel needed, coz I don’t have that one. And I try to fully enhance the deck with board clear more and not dragon synergy and it’s pretty effective versus druid and paladin deck (also big warrior deck).
