This is another attempt at a potential new archetype. Druid got some Beast flavor in Goblins vs. Gnomes and Blackrock Mountain, and that trend has continued into The Grand Tournament. The deck plays many new cards: Living Roots, Darnassus Aspirant, Druid of the Saber, Mulch, Savage Combatant, Wildwalker, and Knight of the Wild. While this is an experimental deck, it is interesting to note that the deck contains no Neutral cards!

    This deck is terrible.
    No board control, little to no board wiping abilities. You better hope RNG is on your side to win with this deck. I went from 15 to 17 with this deck hoping for another chance but its all around terrible.

      It’s probably not worth crafting anything for it, but it’s a fun deck nonetheless.

    It’s a really fun deck! but I didn’t try it in ladder yet, so I don’t have too much to say about if it’s really solid.
    By the way, why not a druid of the fang? I know it have a pretty high cost, but having the 7/7 isn’t very hard with the amount of beasts in the deck.

    Okay after giving this deck it’s fair shake, even with the additions I’ve made, I’ve come to the conclusion it’s pretty bad. The support cards aren’t quite good enough to make it competitive. Is it a fun gimmick? Sure, but that’s all it well ever be until it gets better support.

    Tried this deck a few times, as much as I want to like it, it’s just not good. You’re early game blows if you don’t get Aspirant or living roots, and as cool as Druid of the Saber is, a 3/2 stealth isn’t all that amazing. Also more often than not, the Savage Roars are just sitting in your hand doing nothing. All in all, pretty “meh” deck

      But seriously, you have some good points. I tested this deck out a couple times in ranked. I haven’t played any ranked this season yet so I’m only at like 16 right now. But it performed pretty well all things considered. My biggest issue with it is that the card draw is suboptimal. I’m not a big fan of decks that have to top deck past turn 6 and 7 unless it’s a face deck that tries to win by turn 5.

      The thing is, when you start facing control warriors in the higher ranks, you’ll be sitting with 2 or 3 cards and 1 of them is going to be a savage roar and your board is empty.

        That’s happened to me more times than not. Once this deck loses board control, it’s very, very difficult to get back.

          Also innervates sitting in my hand doing nothing as well. That’s happened more times than not to.

          Funny enough, I just ran into another guy running this deck on the ladder. Except I made several modifications to it and gave him a thorough whooping.

          I’m not a big fan of living roots, so I took that out. Also I think Darnassus kind of sucks, so I removed that too. Also power of the wild was removed because I think it really only goes well with token decks, and without living roots, this thing isn’t close to a token deck anymore.

          I added in wraths for more control / draw card options. Jungle Panthers because it curves beautifully into windwalker, added a second FoN and emperor to buff the win condition, then replaced the keepers with owls to keep with the beast theme and maintain the knight of the wild synergy.

          I managed to beat Kolento’s version without drawing my FoNs or Emperor, also while holding 2 dead owls for most the game. The wraths were huge, and so was the Jungle Panther Windwalker play. Clearly you’re not going to hit that every time, so I need to test it more, but I definitely like my version a lot more. Although you said in the original post that you don’t think the 2/3 stealth is very good, it does serve very good purpose in setting up a win condition with the FoN + SR combo.

            Living roots I kinda agree on. But Aspirant is amazing, it’s wild growth in creature form. Yeah the mana crystal gets destroyed if she dies, but you get to basically play Wild Growth and a 2/3 on the same turn which is nuts if she’s not dealt with instantly. Also I disagree with Emperor, if all you’re wanting to hit is the FoN+Savage, I don’t think he’s gonna be much use. The panthers could actually be really good though, so I might try that.

            To each to their own I suppose. I like the ability to FoN, Druid of the Saber, SR after an emperor… that’s an 8 mana 20 damage combo.

            I suppose we’ll have to agree to disagree on Aspirant. Theoretically ya, I could see it being good if you were able to silence it. But pretty much every game I’ve ever played it just gets removed very easily and the deathrattle negates the benefits from it and it’s simply a plain jane 2/3 after all that.

      This deck has everything to make your early game work though. You have 2x Darnassus Aspirant, 2x Druid of the Saber, 2x living roots, 2x druid of the flame and, if you somehow don’t draw into a single one of these, 2x innervate so you can play bigger minions

    I found that if you switch out both wild walkers with soul of the forest you almost always have minions on the board for savage roar or power of the wild combo. I found that most of my minions are killed with poly morph or with some spell that ignores the amount of health a minion has. Love this deck!

      If the minion is killed with something besides polymorph, the death rattle summon a treeant leaves a minion you can potentially buff. for extra damage that could win you the match

    For a “beast” deck there may not be enough beast for my taste … Why not an owl and a keeper of the grove instead of two ? and maybe an armored wharhorse and a Mukla’s champion ? How those two cards could integrate this deck ? Wich cards could I let to put these in the deck ?

      Armored warhorse is a terrible card. A 5/3 with charge is fantastic, a regular 5/3 is awful. As long as that variance is there, that’s not a playable card.

      Keeper of the grove on the other hand is too good of a card. If you can put two in, do it. Or play the ‘no fun allowed’ version of the deck with 2 keepers and 1 owl

      Definitely Coin Darnassus T1 or play T2, also good mulligan living root that is a very good T1 play even with coin for 1,3,3,4 curve 🙂

      If you can land innervate + coin + Savage Combatant, that’s a great opener. Most decks can’t remove the 5/4, and the 3 damage hero power gives you ample removal if you don’t hit any other opening plays.

    I am really loving this deck. Strong early game and great finish late. I find opponents conceding because the board presence becomes overwhelming. This deck struggles against rush decks if you don’t get a good opener. A lot of fun though!
