Dyn-o-matic Card Review
This is another card which proves that Mech Warrior will most likely want to play a Control style. Tempo decks usually want to drop stuff on the curve, not really hold off onto them, and this might be amazing in some situations, but it’s not your usual 5-drop that always works. It’s like a removal with a body attached. It might be played in a more Tempo deck if the meta demands it (like people are running lots of board flood decks, then it can be a nice addition), but I see it mostly as a Control card.
3/4 body costs 3 mana, so you’re getting 5 damage for 2 extra mana. However, that damage is spread between non-Mech minions, making it quite useful in a range of situations. Just two examples – if you’re playing against Odd Paladin and they have a bunch of 1/1’s on the board, you drop this and it clears. On the other hand, if you play against some deck that just dropped a 5/5 minion on the empty board, you can also play this and it clears. Fun, right? You can also combo it with Acolyte of Pain to draw 3 cards immediately, and possibly hit something your opponent has on the board too. But since it’s situational, it means that you might need to hold onto it for multiple turns to find the right board – hence why it might work best in a Control deck.
I like this card, it’s not particularly impressive, it’s no Vilespine Slayer, but it should be useful lots of times. Removals attached to bodies are generally pretty solid, especially if you can somewhat control the outcome. I’m super glad that it can’t hit the face, because it would make the card way, way less consistent.
Card rating: 8/10
This card must be nerfed to deal only 3 damage…
Fel Cannon, but in warrior and has a more immediate effect. Good in mech, minion abuse, or heavy control decks. The stats for mana is weak, but it can be discounted with galvanizer and be a good starting mech for magnetize.
This card is good. Probably a 1 of in control.
5/5 because it is an arena card only (thanks Blizzard for another trash card PogChamp).
In arena this will hit your own shit a lot, so it’s a worse madder bomber basically.
The five damage Dyn-o-matic throws around would be worth three mana given how Cinderstorm, so this would be a functionally two mana 3/4, which is pretty good.
Another card worth comparing this two would be Goblin Blastmage. This does cost one more mana and comes with two less attack, but it does deal one more damage and that damage is dealt unconditionally. Plus, if Mech Warrior plays cards like Acolyte of Pain, this can also trigger those sorts of cards to trigger.
It will suck if you’re opponent is also playing mechs, since this could quite easily become just a five mana 3/4, but with mechs put mainly in just three classes, that shouldn’t be that much of an issue.
The question with this card isn’t so much is it good, but is Mech Warrior good enough to support such a card.
This does not hit face, making it a lot better in a control deck.
Are you saying that just because I mentioned Cinderstorm? I didn’t mention anything about it being better in control or better in any other general deck archetype. In fact, I had a sentence talking about using this in conjunction with Acolyte of Pain, a card that rarely sees play outside of control or value oriented deck.
I don’t exactly understand the point of your comment.
Because you compare the two card. Blastmage is an aggro card while this is a control card.
Yes. Two mech-related cards that deal random damage when played cannot be compared as means of judging if this could be good enough to play just because one does something slightly different to the other.
What would be a better point of comparison between what we have seen and what is coming then if the comparison I made was so inept?
It is was better in control if you can control the outcome, doesn’t mean it is a complete different effect but you should keep that in mind if you compare the 2.
Why are you so defensive? Did he hurt your flawless ego by adding useful information?
He mentioned it because this cards effect in most situations (as he said: in control decks) is about 20-100% better than Cinderstorms. This is relevant!
Noone offended you, so stay calm!
This card is pretty good, it can be basically 5 mana Firelands Portal against sole 5/5 on board which can also clear wide paladin/token board. Downside is that it is situational, but I think it can be very useful at least as 1 off.
4/5
Good for another source of 1 damage to your own minions, or If playing mech deck. But if you and opponent play mech decks, then vanilla 3.4 for 5 is terrible.
I mean it’s ok. I could see it being run in a world where paladin dudes are being asshats.
2.5/5
Odd Paladin?
Murloc paladín?
Dude paladín?
This card Will be play in wild
Dudes, both of you, it’s a warrior card wtf are you talking about??????
Or do you mean against paladin
Considering it would kill his own minions if he was playing any of the before mentioned deck it is pretty obvious that he is talking about it as a counter to those decks.
Obviously its meant as vs paladin. It would an incredibly bad card in a paladin deck.
Not so bad, will probably run in the mech warrior.
It’s not quite the second coming of Goblin Blastmage, but dealing 5 damage to non-mech minions will really hurt small creature based decks (odd paladin). I think people might sleep on this one, but it seems good for the mech warrior build.
Goblin Blastmage was an aggro card though, I feel like Dyn-o-matic is better as a control card than Blastmage. It does not hit face, which makes it fairly reliable as minion removal. On top of that, you can play this on its own without having mechs on the field.
Yeah, those were my thoughts too. I’m interested to see if an odd mech control warrior would be viable, since any control deck will need to put itself out of range of combo’s burst range.
With only mechs on board, this is a 3 mana 3/4 that adds a minion only cinderstorm to your hand, which I would value at about 2 mana. Fits into Odd Mech Warrior for a body and a little bit of anti-odd pally. Okay card, 3.5/5.
56 cards yet to be revealed, look forwrd to opening the coveted 6 mana 1/1 do nothing “pack filler”
This is a pretty bad card
