Starting in the next expansion, every time you open a Legendary card it will be a Legendary card from the same set you don’t already have. This change will apply to all packs from all sets. Also, at the start of the next expansion you’ll be guaranteed a Legendary within the first 10 packs of the new set. It also sounds like the new expansion will be announced pretty soon.
Update
For people wondering if you already own all the legendaries in a particular set:
If you’ve got all the legendaries in a given set (golden or non-golden), then any legendary cards you open in packs afterward will be random. [Source]
Another smaller update, is that you won’t open more copies of a single card than you can use in a single deck. This means you won’t open three or more of the same Common, Rare, or Epic anymore.
In the next few days, there’s going to be limited time promotion on Journey to Un’Goro packs. Starting at 7 packs, each number of packs as you go up will yield you free bonus packs. Remember to use Amazon Coins to save money on Hearthstone packs to further save on this deal! Check out the table below to see how the packs line up.
Having fun and exciting moments in Hearthstone is important to us, so today we’re announcing an upcoming change to the way you’ll experience cracking open Hearthstone card packs.
WAAAH, Legendary!
Starting with the release of Hearthstone’s next expansion (but applying to ALL Hearthstone card packs), every time you open a Legendary in a card pack, it will be a Legendary card from the same set that you don’t already own. Once you own either the golden or non-golden version of a Legendary card, you won’t get a duplicate of it until you own all the Legendary cards from that set. Soon, you’ll be able to craft a Legendary without the worry of opening it in your next few packs!
In addition, you will never open more copies of any card in a pack than you can use in a single deck—no more opening three or more of the same common, rare, or epic card in one pack!
Even More Legendary!
Beginning with the release of the next expansion, you’re also guaranteed to get a Legendary within your first 10 packs of a new set. The release of a new Hearthstone expansion is a super exciting time, and with this change we hope your pack openings start off on a celebratory note!
Combined, these changes should make the pack opening experience more exciting than ever—especially when you see that flash of gold heralding a Legendary card!
The Greater Crater Promotion
Elise Starseeker and her junior explorers have stumbled upon a fascinating discovery: a crater full of card packs! Starting in the next few days, we’re having a special limited time promotion for Journey to Un’Goro card pack bundles: the price stays the same, but the number of packs gets dino-sized!
Original Pack Bundles Special Pack Bundles 7 packs +2 packs = 9 packs total 15 packs +5 packs = 20 packs total 40 packs +12 packs = 52 packs total 60 packs* +18 packs = 78 packs total We can’t wait to see your Legendary pack openings starting with Hearthstone’s next expansion!
*60 card pack bundle size available only on PC.

Does anyone know whether I should wait to open packs from brawls and arena runs until after this patch?
What if I collect all the cards from a set, then disenchant five of my legendaries and try to open a pack from this set?
Am i going to receive these five legendaries that I just disenchanted or said another way 2k free dust for 100 gold? Maybe I`m misreading something from the post or this is not mentioned but will not work this way otherwise it is insane value 😀
“No duplicates” only counts for legendaries so, no, you’ll probably just get 4 commons and a rare – and since you’ve already completed the set that’s just 40 dust.
“Another smaller update, is that you won’t open more copies of a single card than you can use in a single deck. This means you won’t open three or more of the same Common, Rare, or Epic anymore.” made me wonder. Maybe I`m reading it out of the context,
I’m pretty sure that means in a single pack – “This means you won’t open three or more of the same Common, Rare, or Epic anymore.”; I’d be amazed if it actually changed the open rates of rare/epic/legendary cards. So if you’ve already got all the commons, you’ll just get duplicate commons – just not three or more of the same one in a single pack.
Considering I’ve packed King Crush 3 times but never Grommash Hellscream … huzzah!
If you have all of the non-golden legendaries, then are you guaranteed a golden legendary each time you get one? Or only guaranteed a new one when you happen to roll a golden legendary?
The way Ben describes it in the video is- if you OWN the legendary (golden or otherwise) you won’t pull a copy of it (golden or otherwise) unless you have all the legendaries from that set.
Ben also said that you will be able to create a legendary without the fear you ll open it in your next packs.. So I think that you will not open a copy of a regular legendary if you found one neither a copy of a golden, if you found one.. But getting all regulars, it s not guaranteed you ll open goldens.
