On curve minions and cheap removal like Shadow Word: Pain

This is a classic midrange deck. You gradually present bigger and bigger threats while trading/controlling the board with your effective removal and efficient minions. Alexstraza provides you with some unexpected lethals and the Twilight Acolyte and Cabal Shadow Priest combo really screws over Control Warlocks (take the voidlords).

You can easily replace Curious Glimmerroot with other cards. Tar Creeper etc
